Professor Kaushik Ramaiya is an internationally recognized medical expert on health care systems for infectious and non-communicable diseases in Tanzania, and the wider sub-Saharan African region. Prof. Ramaiya is the Chief Executive Officer and Consultant Physician at Shree Hindu Mandal Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is a Member of the Board of World Diabetes Foundation and Hon. General Secretary of Tanzania Diabetes Association and Tanzania NCD Alliance. He is also President-Elect for the East African NCD Alliance and a member of the Board of the Global NCD Alliance. In 2018, Prof. Ramaiya was appointed Hon. Professor of Medicine & Global Health at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Currently, his work addresses children with Type 1 diabetes, gestational diabetes, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular complications of antiretroviral drugs in HIV/AIDS and Diabetes/TB interaction.
